The School offers courses at all levels in diverse range of subject areas.

In keeping with the University’s widening access policy, the Foundation Certificate in Computer Studies is a year-long programme that prepares students without the relevant qualifications or experience to begin a degree or HND within the School of Computing.

We offer Foundation Degrees at Glamorgan and in partner colleges throughout Wales. Students combine work-based learning with academic study, so they graduate as employable individuals equipped with technical skills, as well as academic knowledge. Also offered on campus or at partner colleges are a range of HND courses, many of which can be converted to degree level with top-up courses.

At undergraduate level, students can choose a major degree in Computer Studies or opt for one of the specialized options in subjects from Geographic Information Systems to Software Engineering. Normally BSc students study a common first year, so the decision to specialised can be delayed until the second year of study.

Our Masters courses equip students with advanced skills and knowledge to build a career in specialist areas within the computing industry. Recent postgraduate students have gained employment in computing domain with Daimler Benz, VideoLogic, Fraunhofer, BT, and within HE Institutions. The School has successfully implemented a policy of giving the most able research students post-doctorial fellowships that provide them with a stepping stone to a Higher Education lecturing career.
